Restart your computer

No matter what the speed of the computer, you must first restart the computer. Your operating system provides storage space for programs running on your computer. Your RAM will eventually fill up, and your computer will slow down when you start using a swap file instead of the operating system.

A swap file is a disk file used by your operating system, usually for data used by programs, when the RAM used for this purpose is free. Because hard disk drives (HDDs) and much faster hard disk drives (SSDs) are slower than RAM.

Closing programs that run on your computer will help you shut down, but restarting your computer can refresh the computer in many other ways. It prevents apps from running in the background, allows you to install Windows updates, and fixes any errors, such as memory leaks that affect apps.

Clean your hard drive

Your computer slows down when the hard disk is full because there is not much space in the operating system to work properly. Your operating system (OS) needs space to use the swap file, avoid fragments, and create temporary files.

Make sure your computer is at least 500 MB (megabytes) to make sure it is not slow on the hard drive. You can see how much space you have by opening the file browser and clicking the “This Computer” button in the left navigation bar.

Some tips for doing a disk cleanup PC:

Empty your Recycle Bin:

When you use file processing garbage on your computer, cleaning it from time to time can help improve your computer’s performance.

Double-click the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop, right-click anywhere, and select “Empty Recycle Bin.” Right-click the package reuse icon.

Remove unwanted programs:

Unwanted programs take up space on your hard drive and slow down your computer. To remove them, open the Control Panel using the Windows search bar (available from the Windows icon at the bottom left of the screen) and click the “Uninstall a program” button in the Applications title. A window will open to remove programs you do not need.

Clean your Downloads folder:

Open the Files browser and select Downloads from the quick access bar on the left. Move the required files to the appropriate folders, such as documents, and delete the rest.

If you do not clean this folder regularly, files downloaded from the Internet will be collect, take up space on your hard drive, and your computer de slow down.

Find and delete temporary files:

Programs and files that your operating system uses to temporarily store data, files downloaded from the program when you install updates. Over time, files may accumulate to take up more space on your hard drive.

Temporary files can be very difficult because they are often in hidden folders and it is difficult to know what is difficult to remove them. You can view the temporary home folder from all open applications by pressing Windows + R, type %temp%, and clicking ‘OK’.

This will bring up a folder that contains most of the temporary files on your computer. , the program may contain files that have not yet been used and can not be deleted.

Disable background programs

A slow computer often creates too many programs that run at the same time. These programs start processing and slow down the computer. When you turn on the computer, some programs lag behind. Even if you turn them off or turn them on automatically.

Open the Task Manager, which can be entered by pressing CTRL + ALT + DELETE. To see what programs are running on your computer and how to receive memory and processing power.

In Windows 10, you can open Task Manager in a simplified view, in which case you must first click on “additional information” below. Click CPU, Memory, and Disk Headers to sort the programs that run on your computer. It shows you according to how many resources your computer takes up. For example, if your memory bar is 100%, you need to sort programs using memory and close the ones you don’t need.

Disable startup programs

If your computer getting slow and the boot time expires, too many programs may not work at the startup. It recommended that you connect to several programs automatically at startup. This is very useful if you are using a program when you are using a computer. If there are too many programs running, you can significantly reduce startup time and performance.

In Windows 8 and Windows 10, you do not need to use the system configuration tool to run Windows Start. You can do this in the Task Manager by pressing CTRL + ALT +. Delete and click “Task Manager”. Click the “Start” tab above to see which programs are running and how they affect your computer’s startup time and performance.

Scan for malware and viruses

Malicious programs and viruses can slow down your computer if infected. Make sure you are using a modern antivirus program and run any scan to find viruses that affect your computer.

Reinstall Windows

If all else fails, reinstalling Windows is the best option for moving to new hardware. Uninstalling and reinstalling Windows will ensure that you remove everything. All settings and drivers are default.

Add More RAM

Random access memory is a temporary storage system used by computers. The more RAM you use, the more memory you will need. If you do not have enough RAM, the computer will slow down. You can add additional RAM or you can buy new memory.
