What is Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) is a very common and important thing of broadband internet connection. DSL connects the internet through copper wires within the telephone line and internet modem. Without any type of hindrance it allowing you to connect to internet service. DSL allowing you to be on your telephone and internet service at the same time.
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) was started as a part of Integrated Services Digital Network or ISDN. The ISDN provides connectivity for all networking devices.

Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) provides around 9 Mbps of download speed and 1 Mbps of upload speed. The speed also depends on the distance of the user from the Central Office. A user near the Central Office will have a better speed than a user located far. The other important feature of the ADSL is the always-on access. This concept of always ready to use internet re- moves the need to Dial and set up the internet connection. The dial-up connection takes sufficient time to get connected and may not get connected due to network traffic. The ADSL plays an important role in transferring files that are in video or multimedia formats.
DSL technology utilizes the existing twisted-pair phone lines to provide internet services. It provides a high bandwidth internet connection, which facilitates the transmission of bulk data, such as multimedia or graphic files, video files, etc. This kind of file consists of a large amount of data, which may consist of complicated graphics.
The DSL has different forms such as ADSL, SDSL, VDSL, etc. All these different forms of DSL provide internet at high speed. The services provided by these various forms of DSL make very small changes to the existing infrastructure of the telephone services. A Central Office provides the connection to all users. The Internet Service Providers connect to the users through these Network Service Provider (NSP) Central Offices.

Mainly your Internet service provider (ISP) provides the equipment that is used in the DSL line. the main equipment is a DSL modem or router and a Line Splitter.
